Imagine the sights and sounds you experience as you gracefully glide down the Grand Canal in an authentic Venetian gondola as the gondolier sings an Italian love song.
This experience will be recreated at the Temple University Hospital Auxiliary's 2007 "Acres of Diamonds" Gala called "A Night in Venice." The black-tie event will be held on Saturday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m., in the Grand Ballroom of the Westin Philadelphia.
During the Gala, the Auxiliary will present the 2007 Diamond Award to Temple University Hospital's Trauma Section for their award-winning violence-prevention program known as "Cradle to Grave." The "Cradle to Grave" program offers an honest and unflinching glimpse into the realities of street violence as a counterbalance to the often-glamorized notions of aggression that pervade urban culture. The program shows youth the reality of violence, as well as the pain and consequences for those left behind when someone dies.
Dave Huddleston, Emmy Award-winning journalist and weekday co-anchor for FOX-29, will be the Master of Ceremonies at this year's Gala.
"We look forward to another memorable event that will help support worthwhile projects that enhance quality patient care and services at Temple University Hospital," said Lucy Giagnacova, Gala Chair.
